In my very first post, I want to convey a couple things about myself. First off, stupid people amuse me. Religious people also amuse me. Stupid religious people (really hardly ever exclusive) amuse me to no end. So when I first saw this story I laughed, very hard. I don't feel sorry for a single one of these people. Nor do I hold the hotel owner responsible. He was just following the old P.T. Barnum adage and trying to drum up some business. So, really, if anyone is interested, I heard Jesus whispering from my garbage disposal today saying that if you reach in and take his hand, he will heal you of all the ills the rest of us godless muckity-mucks have to endure. It will cost you 5 bucks apiece. Hey, faith aint free. That shit costs. Just ask those folks in India.
Indians blinded looking for vision of Mary

KOTTAYAM, India, March 11 (UPI) --
Reports in India of a miraculous image of the Virgin Mary in the sky have led about 50 people to blind themselves by staring at the sun.
The visions are said to appear over the former home of a hotel owner in the Kottayam area in southeast India, The Daily Telegraph reported. One hospital in the district reported 48 patients had been admitted with burned retinas since last week, the British newspaper reported.
Churches have warned their congregations that looking at the sun will cause permanent blindness and have told them the supposed miracle is not one.
Before moving out, the hotel owner reportedly had also claimed to have statues of the Virgin Mary that cried honey and bled oils and perfumes.

Well...if there's one good thing about being one of the people that blinded themselves its that you have now made 49 new friends who all share the same sentiments that you do...
And to think, if they wanted to see a vision of Mary, all they had to do was buy one of those little candles from the grocery store.
And then there was the family who let their daughter die as they prayed her well-being...
